Jim, it's Dave here. Having read your P.M. regarding your distributor problem, here is a possible reason for the rotor arm being 180 degrees out of position.

The drive shaft is totally separate from the rotor arm mounting shaft which slips over the top of the top of the drive shaft and is driven by the bob weights and springs.
It looks as though it has been incorrectly assembled.
If you google Lucas distributor parts and look in images you will see what I mean.
The other alternative is to just move you 4 HT leads round by 180 degrees in the distributor cap. (Firing order is 1,3,4,2).
