The striker plate on my Olympic RH door has become loose. I cannot get at the fasteners as they are completely boxed in. However, there appears to be a panel under the rear wheelarch that is probably removable. Is this the way in?

Thanks,

Howard

Howard

On my ph1 that is the way you get to the striker nuts and bolts, there are no panels just straight to the nuts.

Hello john,

Thanks. I think the panel has been fitted to conceal the seat-belt reel.

I'll explore!

I am currently on the final stages of a phase 2 Olympic body repair and paint job, which has included removing everything attached to the shell.

The area round the door catch striker plate needed some repair too so the plates have been removed to effect the repair and to prepare the locks and sundry items prior to refitting once the shell is painted. On this car access to the nuts holding the plate in place was from the rear wheel arch area, I suspect that your car would have been the same, and as you say possibly the cover plate is removable so that you can gain access. When we rebuild this part of the car I normally make up some plates with captive fasteners to assist future maintenance should it be required.

Thanks Keith,

When I drop the axle it will be an ideal time to explore!
