I believe most were made in house, and pretty poorly at that, although later ones may have come form a production car.
I have seen one removed from the car - it may have come from a Ph1 - and it was attached to the car with numerous bolts. The welding was poor and I couldn't help but wonder why they went to all of the trouble when a neat example from a production car was there for the taking. Having said that, the years in the British motor industry were very volatile with Lucas/Ford/BMC all striking at various and repeated times, so making them might have seemed the safest option. |

Does anyone else find the Phase 2 brakes, and clutch, very heavy? It is almost as if the pedal pivot is in the wrong place so the leverage is wrong. I believe mine has an original pedal box.
I am using silicone fluid, does this make the pedals stiffer to push? |

In mine it's exatly conversely!
Too soft, and to be honest, no brakes !
I think I have a problem, master or rear brake cylinders... _________________ Alexandre Contat

The previous owner had replaced the master cylinders, calipers( type 14 ) piping, shoes, discs, and Greenstuff pads. Everything has been renewed. I changed to standard pads, but the braking is not very good.
I have another project, on the go at the moment so it will be a while before I can give the time to my Olympicjavascript:emoticon('') |

Front I have Spitfire 1500 calipers (girling 14 ?) and rear standards Morris Minor drums.
Master cylinder, I don't know !

Below are pictures of the pedal box assembly on my Phase 2
The original master cylinders were both 0.625" bore.
I will be using the same for the clutch but a 0.700" for the brakes along with a servo.
The brakes prior to the rebuild starting were quite good but I am sure thet with the servo they will be much better.
The original system had P14 calipers at the front and Ford drums at the rear.
Regards
Dave

Dave- If you still have everything apart, would you do me a favour please and take some measurements? I need the distance from the centre of the pedal pivot hole to the centre of the hole where the master cylinder clevis pin goes in. I also need the measurement from the centre of the pedal pivot hole to the centre of the pedal rubber.
The braking effort seems extreme on mine and I don't think the ratio of those measurements is right on mine, and I am not getting the leverage required, and its worse on the clutch. Thanks,

Your pics are very important for me Dave, because I need to move towards the left my pedals (to be more in the axle seat - steering wheel). _________________ Alexandre Contat

If you turn the pedal over and weld the foot pad to the other side it should work for a lhd converion. Here is a picture of the throttle pedal which maybe of some use to you.

Dave

Thanks Dave, my pedals have been altered so it will be good to know how they should be!
