Hi Alexander
I looked at the crossflow Ford 1600 with twin webers and went the pre crossflow route. The Webers looked like they would interfere with the steering column on a rough measure up,(not a problem on a left hand drive car) and also make the distributor less accessible. Anything is possible though.
I too do not have access to any other Olympics as mine is only 1 of 2 in Australia, the other is 1000kms away.
Regards Keith Nicholson.

Hi KN,

I think the twin weber touch the steering column in fact yes.
I think I'll keep the pre crossflow, it's simple and it's the original engine.

Best regards

Alexandre

Hi Alexander
If you have the original engine it would be easier to go with that, however if I was to do it all again I would rebuild a 1600cc 711 type block with flat top 1500cc type piston oversize to suit and a pre crossflow head.
Stronger block and extra capacity and only slighty taller overall.
Regards Keith Nicholson.

Alexandre

I must have ridden passed your house a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I rode down to Austria for a weeks break and rode back passed Reims. Whilst I have visited the old grand prix circuit there, and I know they've since restored the old faded grandstands, for the life of me I couldn't remember where it was. I thought it could be seen from the E17 autoroute just outside the city towards St.Quentin but for the life of me I failed to see it.

Congratulations on acquiring a Rochdale Olympic.

Paul
