|
|
I've just poppped into the Club Events section to ask a question about the AGM but was blocked by a message saying "Only administrators can come in here". Very nice especially as nobodies been in there for the past FOUR YEARS.
So I've returned to the friendly Olympic section. So, who's going this year? Paul Lyon mentioned that we'd not been for a couple of years so I may well make the effort in 2009. Mind you the motorway journey from Kent to Coventry is tedious, not as tedious as the actual AGM though. I know it's democratic and all that but the sooner that can be got out of the way, the better. All the more time to chat to fellow members and look at their cars.
Any newbies this year then? |

No? Oh well it's our 36th wedding anniversary on April Fool's Day so I may do something else that weekend. The banter on this forum is quite something, isn't it? |

Well it's traditionally the first Sunday in April. I can't seem to find my Winter 2008 mag as it will almost certainly be in there. Of course it would be so easy to put it on this website but........well we've been through all of that, haven't we? |

James
I know you aren't a navigator in the RAF but there's a clue in the left hand margin - 'Aylesford, Kent'. (Halfway between Chatham and Maidstone).
Lots of hot tea and sometimes hot cross buns too for visiting Rochdale owners.
Thank you for the reply but I'm off to watch 'Grumpy Old Men' as I am one. |

The Annual General Meeting of the Rochdale Owners Club which is generally held on the first Sunday in April alongside the Coventry Air Museum. Personally I find the AGM side of it very dull (but necessary when a hundred or so members pay sunscriptions and have opinions as to which way the club is going) but meeting the other members and their cars makes up for it. I still can't find the last club mag to confirm the date.
In the past, things can get very heated, such as when there was a vote of no confidence in a past Chairman by two votes to the remainder. He refused to leave his chair so after a short break for things to cool down, the entire room turned their chairs around leaving the flabergasted ex-Chairman and his sidekick on their own at what became the back. Now that's what you call an AGM. |

OK, it's in first page, one small line, 5 April 2009.
And this year, you have a Chairman ?

"And this year, you have a Chairman ? "
Do we? Only if someone is foolish enough to volunteer for it.
"Here?"
Are you serious? Just count how many regular posters come on here (5 or 6) and then compare that to the 100-110 members in the club. |

I wish you the best of luck with your career change, and I am sure that you would make an enlightened Secretary for the Club should you volunteer! _________________ " Stay lucky " |
