Rochdale Owners Club spares
As many of you are aware the ROC spares operation has been suspended for some time due to a lack of anyone prepared to take on the roll of spares officer.
At the AGM held in April there were discussions about this roll and the reason we had not filled it to date. In brief we had a suggestion that it may be possible to farm the spares operation out to a company to run it on our behalf, since the spares we carry specifically for our cars are relatively limited and the turnover is also relatively small we feel that it would not be a viable proposition and in fact could make things worse as any commercial operation would not be prepared to carry stock which moves so slowly, and would probably delete it after finding out how slowly they turn over.
Since one of the main objectives for forming the club in the first place was to provide members/owners with bespoke spares such as windscreens it is felt that the spares operation should be operated by the club for the benefit of club members.
To this end Keith Hamer has agreed to oversee the spares operation with the assistance of the Treasurer and Secretary.
The intention is to do an inventory which will be held by the Secretary and Keith, we will photograph all the Rochdale specific items and update the spares web page to carry images and updated prices, together with a description of the spares and hopefully an online order form. We will also be listing part numbers and suppliers of spares not carried by the owners club spares operation, or available through the club. We may streamline the number of spares carried by the club to assist the storage requirements and the money tied up in them for the future.
One rather large item which the club has been carrying for many years is a complete front moulding from a Phase 1 Olympic, once again to aid storage and try to realise this asset we propose to cut the front into 4 main sections to provide,
1, Nearside front wing/wheel arch moulding.
1, Offside front wing/wheel arch moulding.
1, Front nose section including the first part of the under floor.
1, Windscreen scuttle panel.
These items will not only be easier to store but may be put up for members to buy on a ‘best offer’ basis. Anyone requiring any or all of these parts should contact us on the email address below as soon as possible.
It is probably worth pointing out also that the club have moulds for all the Olympic outer body panels and access to most, if not all the inner mouldings. These can be ordered on an ‘as needed’ basis and the turnround is normally about 4-6 weeks from order, initial enquiries to spares@rochdale-owners-club.co.uk.
We hope to have the spares operation running by the end of May, in the meantime all spares enquiries should be by email to spare@rochdale-owners-club.co.uk we will endeavour to assist with your requirements as soon as we can. _________________ Working to increase the profile of Rochdale Cars |
