Thanks Dave, a drawing would be most helpful.

What car / year do the later type mounts come from?

Cheers

Gary

Gary,
My knowledge of these mounts is limited.
I know for a fact that they are used on Lotus Elans both baby and Plus2
I think that Ford crossflows used them as well.
Perhaps a bit of time with our old friend Google would give us a definitive answer.

I will cad up the engine mounts and would value your opinion, the laser cutting wont be a problem as and when required. Do you do your own welding?

Regarding the gearbox mount, What gearbox will you use? It will obviously have a bearing.

Hi Dave,

I'm planning to fit a Mazda RX8 six speed gearbox. I have the adaptor plate to mate it to the pre crossflow, but that's as far as I've progressed so far.

Hopefully I can come up with a solution once I've seen it in the car.

I have the ford 4 speed box, that came with the engine, as back up.

Cheers

Gary

Below is a picture of the Lotus/Ford engine mountings we use, together with the mounting bracket to fit them to a Ph2. I use the same mountings on the lightweight, however the brackets are a little different as that car is a Ph1 but runs a Cosworth blackhead F junior engine.

Hi Gary,
Rick Bradner from Vancouver here. I think I introduced myself and my wife Claudia via her FB account a couple of months back.
We also have a P2 with a pre-Xflow with hacked rear arches and we need an offside door, so we do have a wee bit in common!
I'm looking forward to following your build thread, as it seems we will share many of the same problems, but as luck would have it, you get to sort them out first! Very Happy
Look forward to being in touch.
BTW, the 7 looks sweet!

Hi Rick,

Good to hear from you, hope your restoration is progressing.

I have the back axle in now, so I have a datum to install the new front sub frame.

I hope to bond the engine bay under tray in very shortly and then start to position the sub frame. Because so much was cut away I don't have anything to follow, I'm going to set it up as the angles shown in Olympic Running.

Keep in touch, please post some photos as you go along.

Regards

Gary
