I've never cared much for the existing club sticker, the circular design of which must be fifteen or so years old by now, if not more. When I was club magazine editor, I designed a badge based on the Olympic badge and almost identical to the one on the top of this page. It was on the front cover of every magazine I produced. With the advances in computer design, I think the badge above with it's slightly contoured shape and dotted background is first class. Unfortunately it has been mucked about with in the past when similar but not-quite-right lettering was used.

Now we are used to the design above, perhaps we can look into getting some badges made up in self adhesive vinyl?

What do you think?

4" or 5" across perhaps, and identical to the badge at the top of this page? I undertand that this is pretty easy to do these days with vinyl sign specialists. It's all computerised I guess so just they scan it in straight from a website, then press a button. Do you have any expertise in this field, Dave?

I also imagine we'd need the blessing from 'the committee'. Confused

Oddly enough signmaking is a part of how I make a living so I guess I had better do some costings.
I also have a friend who does Dome badges ie the same as above but with a raised plastic dome on top, still self adhesive and much nicer to look at.
I appreciate your comments about "the committee" and perhaps you would like to be the go between?
I will sort a sample, what sort of quantity would be needed do you think?
Dave

Alex, in your logos you have the complete image, did you photoshop the bottom of the other image in your previous post.? If not where did the complete image come from?

I use this one :

72dpi and this size is not sufficient to do a stiker.

I think a few things have to be thought out before any new ones are made.

1. Are we expecting the club to pay for the setting up and a batch (say 100) to be produced? If so it would be right and proper to get an acceptance from the committee before embarking on a course of action to spend the club's money.

2. If however you think that it would be nice to run off a very limited run of (say) ten badges, these would easily sell, I think. They would of course be un-official badges but I think we'd be happy with that. No great cost involved either.

3. We also have to think of the club's Spares Officer, Nigel Whittaker, who might be knee deep in these old badges and wouldn't welcome a new 'visitor on the block'. Having a new badge design also renders all of the other (slow moving) paraphernalia (coasters, caps, sew-on badges, tax disc whatsits) to be unsaleable overnight, although for all I know, they might already have reached that state.

4. I imagine the badge at the top of the page was created by the Webmaster so we should ask his permission to copy it. His email address is in amongst the introduction.

If you think I'm being pernickity, it's because I was once on the committee (and one or two other committees) and know how these gliches and objections crop up. That's why I don't like committees and prefer benign dictators. If it was up to me, I would go with no2.

May I suggest that, if it goes ahead, the stickers be in the form of self adhesive tax disc holders. This makes one less item to clutter the screen with, and perhaps means repeat sales every tax disc change.

Why does this particular thread run too wide for the page so I have to keep sliding it over to read? None of the others do, they all fit inside the screen- how can I sort it out?

Computer illiterate

Rod
It's because that French bloke Alex put all of his badges on here and they were very wide, so everything else goes wide in sympathy Wink

the best way of doing stickers would be to keep it monochrome and get them vinyl cut, say from black and or white so they can be used on any background

I used to be a project manager at a local sign company so do know some people who could do it.

Just had a bit of spare time and knocked this up, I know it's not the correct font etc.etc.

If you want one free of charge just send me a message through the forum with your address, the colour you want and if it's for external application or to fit to the inside of glass.
The black is the coloured part and the white is the colour of what you will stick it to.
They are around 7" long and will be cut in vinyl. This is what Joe suggested in the above post.
Regards
Dave
