Thanks in anticipation

Alex, that will be a 1600 crossflow Ford engine, the casting number should be 711M6015BA, if it ends in AA then it is 1300. The early Xflows were 681F.
I have the later one in my car, of course the carburettor is on the other side to the pre-xflow. At the moment I have a standard cast iron manifold fitted because I don't know which tubular one will fit. I have bought two from ebay, I think one may be a Mk2 Cortina GT or 1600E manifold, but I am not sure, that is the red one. I think the other is from a 1600 Escort, GT or Mexico, perhaps?
You already have your battery out of the engine bay, I would have to move mine to fit the manifold, also to keep it away from the excessive heat.
If you want to fit Weber DCOEs then there will not be much/enough room? My carb is a twin choke Weber and, personally, I think it is really economical and has power when needed.
As long as your car does not overheat then that radiator, very similar to a Golf one, should be OK.

Yes, but I don't want to fit the cross-flow, I want to keep the GT pre cross-flow with his single Weber DCD, but I want to change the exhaust manifold. Because actualy I have this one :

The crossflow that you have is an early one. It is weaker than the 711M engines and has a chamber for combustion in the head, the later ones have a flat head. I believe the oil seals are different, and better on the later one.
All you can do is try and see if anyone has a 1500GT manifold, and if they have fitted it.
I do not know the origin of the tubular manifolds on the Olympic- something else for our Origins Page? |

Rod / Alex I think the tubular manifold used was from a Mk.1 Cortina GT. I think it needed a bit of cut and shut to fit. I know the one fitted to mine was very close to the tunnel.
It looked very much like the red one in your post Rod.
Alex the top one, of the two you posted, looks promising as the add on pipe can be modified easily but at that price I think I may as well get one custom made in stainless. _________________ Ph.2 Ford 1500 GT

I have a bit of info and pictures about Ford engines fitted to Olympics, should I put it here or would a seperate topic be better. What do you think.

It might be handy to have it as a new topic, then it will be easier to find later.

Hi Alex,
Your spare engine was built and fitted into “DUFFY” in September 1989
and I believe had only done 7,000 miles when Richard removed and sold it.
Below are the specifications and costs + photo in 1989.
Plus 2 photos of the engine bay in Sept 1989
The car is a April 1963 Phase 11 Olympic.
VULCAN FORD 1700cc CROSSFLOW ENGINE SPECIFICATION - 110bhp
Block bored and honed to use Hepolite 0.060" pistons, crank is ground and assembled with Vandervell bearings, Kent BCF2 cam with new followers. Big valve 'Maxiflow 1' head using 1,625" inlet valves, 1.325" exhaust, extra strong single springs, high pressure oil pump (60psi), steel rocker posts with new shaft, lightened flywheel, Piper XF distributor (extra).
The Kent BCF2 camshaft is described by the manufacturers as a fast road cam which qives approximately 8bhp over the GT cam, and and a power band between 2000 and 6500rpm.
Now for the cost of all this -
VULCANS X-Flow 1660cc modified engine £495
Head converted to lead-free £100
Piper distributor, supply and fit £70
Supply and fit clutch £75
£740 + VAT £111 £851
