Hi All,
I'm sure I've seen somewhere, an article regarding fitting the MX5 door handles to an Olympic. I thought they looked neat, and I happen to have a set.
Can anyone recall the article?
Thanks

Gary,
Could it have been posted on Retro Rides forum?
A member here Paul Bourne did the RR post and is/was also a member here.
If memory serves he did use the Mazda handles.

They look very good on Paul's Olympic. Clean lines and understated. _________________ Phase 1R Olympic

A word of caution guys, I have (under the customers instructions) done similar on some of our restorations, fitting the door handles isn't a huge problem, making them work with the existing Olympic mechanism is another story. If you are not happy to spend an inordinate amount of time making, modifying, and generally fiddling around to make it all work together you would be better off sticking with the originals.
Even the classic Mini handles work differently to the originals and they look the same.
The option we used on the wide Olympic was Commer/Lotus Elite type 14, but the MGB GT rear door is a close compromise. They do work with the original mechanism but still need a little fettling to make them work properly. _________________ Working to increase the profile of Rochdale Cars |
