Sorry to hear that you have to sell your Olympic. I have far too many projects, including my Phase 2, and not enough time nor money for any more, however tempting!
I wish you luck with the sale.

Robert
You got no response from club members on this forum as it appears 99% of club members don't/won't come on here. It's sad and I don't know the solution. |

The solution is to put it on the "For Sale" part of the website I think. I see that Aubrey has made some changes to this Forum- welcome changes in my opinion, and if he can put items and cars for sale onto the website, with the minimum of delay, that may help sellers, and buyers.
I know that Ebay has a very wide audience, but some people may only look on this website as they do not want to get into an auction situation. When buying a car I would rather go and see it, knowing what the owner is asking for it ,than going to see it and finding out later that the reserve was more than I wanted to pay.
I suppose also, that Club Members, with a car already, may not want, or be able to afford, another one- as proved by us on this Forum!

How can one rationally place a value on an Olympic ? For the prices some are fetching, you can buy a brand new basic means of transport which will be totally reliable, cheap to run, and utterly boring !
To me it's about desirabilty, not in comparison with E-types and Bentleys but for an almost unique combination of an advanced design by one person in a miniscule company producing a car that was a class leader in its day yet is still usable 50 years later.
In addition it's about the memories that are evoked from the 60s and the opportunity to get 'hands on', and rediscover all the skills you had in the days when you always carried a box of tools in the boot !
As a Rochdalian, I used to visit Littledale Mill to scrounge glassfibre with which to build my model boats. The thought that I might actually have seen 'my' car being moulded is quite exciting have acquired it 43 years later.
Sad or what ? |

Hello Tony,
I will write something about my car and my memories, but have missed the copy date for the next mag.
I'm going on holiday next week so it might give me the opportunity !
